Bilateral workshop, Berlin

Berlin, 30/11-04/12/2005: German-Iranian Workshop

The first bilateral workshop held after the approval of the Project took place in Germany from November 28th to December 4th 2005 at TU Berlin. The workshop encompassed three days of workshop sessions, one day of thematic and cultural excursion and one day for bilateral talks aside from the workshop sessions. The workshop sessions have been organised according to the following structure:

Workshop Madanipour January 2006
Excursion to Hamburg
Emphasis was primarily put on the three Pilot Projects, especially the High Technology and the New Quality buildings. This was in order to achieve rapid results on the path to their implementation and to gain information on the German side on the construction, real estate and planning sector in general and the development of New Towns, firstly Hashtgerd New Town, in particular. This approach proved to be successful resulting in a Memorandum of Understanding that includes the definition of the further proceeding of interim work steps and the workload of each side until the forthcoming bilateral workshop. The Memorandum was signed by the president of BHRC, Prof Heidarinjead, and the chairman of NTDC, Eng Mirian, on the Iranian side and the project coordinator of TU Berlin, Prof Schäfer, on behalf of the German Project partners.

An excursion to Hamburg provided enough room for informal discussions on urban development questions of relevance to the development of New Towns referring to the example of the Hafen City development activities. The program was in addition incorporating engineering features tied up to the visit of the Airbus wharf.
