Pilot Projects
All five Young pilot projects are located in Hashtgerd New Town and serve the purpose of demonstrating and testing the energy-efficient solutions developed within the various research dimensions. They include a 35ha residential area and various buildings with different functions.

It is located at the southern-most tip of Hashtgerd New Town and unites all Young Cities research dimensions in a single pilot project.
The New Quality building is the first pilot project that was completed in 2010. According to simulations, the five-story apartment building consumes 50% less energy than a standard Iranian residential building.
The New Generation Housing pilot project comprises a variety of residential designs for the 35ha settlement. All buildings combine elements of traditional Iranian housing architecture with modern design and technical infrastructure for maximum energy and resource efficiency.
The New Generation Office building is designated to become the new headquarters of the Iranian New Towns Development Corporation in Hashtgerd. Apart from being energy and resource efficient, the building caters to modern-day office requirements by providing a flexible floor plan and a high degree of transparency on the in- as well as the outside.
The construction of all pilot projects will be accompanied by regular vocational training sessions to ensure the highest quality execution of all technical innovations. The New Generation LIFE Center provides workshop space to house these training sessions and serves as show-and-tell object for energy-efficient architecture in Hashtgerd.
