Hashtgerd — local development small scale business
|
The Project aims at developing planning and building projects and models on a spatial, cultural and organisational
level in-between the local realm of specific experiences and the national realm of planning programmes. The goal is
to realign these two levels: local short-term needs should be part of a longer-term strategy that also has a much
broader reach. Therefore the objectives of the Project can be seen at different scales:
-
At the local and regional scale the Project aims at influencing the development of Hashtgerd New Town
and therefore contributing to the sustainable development in the region of Karaj/Hashtgerd in the Tehran Province.

Iranian New Towns — national scale
|
-
At the national scale the Project seeks to achieve a transfer of experiences, concepts and tools
from Hashtgerd to further Iranian New Towns. Furthermore the Project endeavours to optimise the Iranian New Town
concept and the establishment of regulations, laws and their supervision. In addition, an application of vocational
training concepts and participation processes for guaranteeing the quality of New Towns should be achieved. As a
result a transfer of these achievements for a wide general implementation throughout the Islamic Republic of Iran
should be accomplished.
-
At the global scale an abstraction and generalisation of scientific results for regional or even international use
as a guideline for "New Towns as a strategy for the sustainable development of Megacity regions of tomorrow" is to be
addressed.
